Betty K Bahamas History | Over 100 Years of Service
We’re proud to share Betty K Bahamas history — a story that began in 1920 and continues today. C. Trevor Kelly established Betty K with a simple mission: move what The Bahamas needs, reliably and with care. Even now, more than a century later, that mission hasn’t changed. In fact, only our capacity to fulfill it has grown.

Betty K Bahamas History: A Century of Bahamian-Owned Shipping
Betty K started with a single vessel moving lumber for Kelly’s Lumber Yard. Since then, we’ve grown into one of the most trusted freight carriers in the region. Throughout that time, we’ve stayed proudly Bahamian-owned and Bahamian-operated. That heritage hasn’t changed, even as our business has evolved to meet a growing customer base across The Bahamas and beyond.
Over the decades, Betty K has weathered storms and shifting trade patterns. Although the shipping industry has changed dramatically, our founding values haven’t. As a result, generations of Bahamian families and businesses have relied on us — from everyday personal shipments to large-scale commercial cargo. Because of this, we’ve earned that trust one shipment at a time.
Today, Betty K coordinates two weekly sailings between South Florida and Nassau through our US Agent, King Ocean Services. We carry everything from personal effects to heavy construction equipment. Above all, the relationships we’ve built over generations remain at the center of how we operate — with customers, agents, and the communities we serve.
Thank you to every customer, agent, and community member who has been part of this journey. We’re proud to still be here, still Bahamian-owned, and still committed to the islands we call home.
