Policy Exclusions

The following articles are excluded from insurance coverage unless otherwise notified:

  • Cigarettes
  • Antiques
  • Fine artwork (Specie) - paintings, drawings, statues, rare books and other works of art
  • Fine jewelry, fine watches (Specie), Precious stones, diamonds (Specie)
  • Precious metals and bullion (Gold, platinum, silver and other precious metals / articles.)
  • Money and currency in any form (including phone cards and gift cards)
  • Accounts, bills, deeds, notes, securities, stock certificates, trading stamps, valuable papers or documents, evidences of debt, letters of credit, tickets, passports, manuscripts, mechanical drawings.
  • Recorded or electronic data and media
  • Mirrors and glass with values in excess of $500.00
  • Illegal goods, forbidden items, or contraband merchandise
  • Laptop and tablet computers and computer memory modules, card and sticks
  • Furs/Animal hides
  • Live/Dead animals
  • Vehicles in poor condition
  • Boats in poor condition
  • Kew or used household goods and personal effects in poor condition
  • Perishables carried in dry containers or trailer
  • Flowers, plants and the like carried in dry containers
  • Cadavers
  • Any items, merchandise or goods which are not professionally prepared and packed

Storage charges can sometimes be confusing for customers, with various factors influencing the overall cost. To help you navigate through the process and make informed decisions, we have created this resource guide on storage charges. Here, you will find valuable information about different types of charges, factors affecting pricing, and tips to manage and minimize your storage expenses effectively.

Understanding the different types of storage charges will help you grasp the overall cost structure. Here are some common charges you might encounter:

  • Nassau Storage Charges:
    • General Cargo (Dry): These fees represent the cost of storage for packages, palletized cargo, bundles, etc. General cargo is given 10 free days of Storage and additional charges are determined by unit size. See below:
      • Less than 20 Cubic Feet: $5.00 per day
      • More than 20 Cubic Feet: $15.00 per day
    • Vehicles: Storage space for cars, trucks, vans, etc. is limited. Vehicles are given 10 free days of storage and accumulate additional charges based on length of stay. See below:
      • Day 11-15: $25.00 per day
      • Day 16+: $50.00 per day
    • Heavy Equipment: Described as large pieces of machinery or vehicles, specifically those used in the building industry, require additional space for storage. 5 free days of storage are granted for heavy equipment and are charged $80.00 per day thereafter.
    • Perishable Cargo: Chilled goods, frozen goods, or live plants are classified as perishable cargo and are given only 1 free day of storage because of their temperature sensitivity. See additional storage charges below:
      • Day 2-6: $50.00 per day
      • Day 7+: $100.00 per day
    • Container Storage: Containers stored on the property are given 5 free days of storage and accumulate a charge of $50.00 per day thereafter.
    • Container Demurrage: Demurrage is defined as a piece of equipment that has been out gated from the terminal. Container Demurrage is granted 3 free days and accumulates a charge of $30.00 per day thereafter.
    • Chassis: Storage for Chassis is limited and are granted 3 days of free storage. A charge of $25.00 per day will be applied thereafter.
  • Miami Storage Charges:
    • General Cargo (Dry): These fees represent the cost of storage for packages, palletized cargo, bundles, etc. General cargo is given 10 free days of Storage and additional charges are determined by unit size. See below:
      • Less than 20 Cubic Feet: $5.00 per day
      • More than 20 Cubic Feet: $15.00 per day
    • Vehicles: Storage space for cars, trucks, vans, etc. is limited. Vehicles are given 3 free days of storage and accumulate an additional charge of $25.00 per day thereafter.
